NCRA County Teams

Taking part in club competitions and NCRA’s internal matches is just the first step on the journey into competitive shooting.  The next is being selected to represent the county. Norfolk fields teams in the following disciplines:

On shooting for Norfolk, the county colour in the form of a blazer badge is awarded (a handsome, new bullion version is being phased in) and shoulder flashes are presented for wearing proudly on the shooting jacket.

With the exception of Fullbore Rifle, the majority of these competitions are postal, and administered by the County Captain in each discipline. There are also opportunities to shoot ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’ at a host venue against other counties, providing an excellent opportunity to meet fellow shooters from outside the contestant’s usual club or county.

The Norfolk Fullbore Rifle team competes in the Eastern Region heat of the English XX Club’s King George V Challenge Cup (known colloquially as the KGV) at Bisley in early June each year, and, if successful, goes on to represent the Eastern Region in the KGV Final which is held during the National Rifle Association (NRA) Imperial Meeting at Bisley in July. It also participates in the NRA Inter Counties weekend in late June at Bisley, and in the NRA County Short Range and County Long Range matches during the NRA Imperial Meeting at Bisley in July.

Shooting well in a county team is a recognised gateway to shooting for England or Great Britain.
